Created as part of a graphic design project for my master's, this poster is intended to persuade audiences to think about the differences between autism awareness and autism acceptance, and analyze their own mindset. As someone with a non-verbal autistic nephew, I've observed frustrations from those within the autism support community with the spread of misinformation about autism, and how bringing awareness can also lead to bullying, especially in children.
This project involved researching appropriate symbols and terminology used within the autism community. Hopefully this poster can encourage empathy, and be shared without fear of causing accidental harm. The poster was created using Adobe Illustrator.
Blue poster using a butterfly, jigsaw puzzle pieces, and specific terminology about autism awareness and acceptance.
